It was a challenge to tackle a series of illustrations on the harsh subject of human trafficking in the U.S. for InRe Magazine. This particular illustration concerned female genital mutilation which you can imagine was a hard subject to illustrate. I hope I did this series justice. There's more illustrations, including the cover and process shots, on my blog.
I think you did beautifully on these illustrations, Jacqui. This issue has a special place in my heart, more so because it is in my town too (Houston). Thank you for your wonderful work on this.
Thanks @Inka Mathew . I was happy that the art director gave me this chance especially since I don't have a lot of more moody work in my portfolio. It's a crazy subject and the stats are heart-rendering. I didn't know that you lived in Houston. One day I hope to come and visit Texas.
A bunch of Dribbblers are here, and we'll be happy to be your hosts :-) I've only been here for 6 years and it turned out to be a nice place to live in (human trafficking aside).
Thanks, I'll have to look into that myself @Simon Walker. PBS does such great docs.
@Inka Mathew ah, thanks. It would be great to meet up with some of you folks in person. I love the art director I work with in Houston and we always chat about meeting up too.
@Adam Grason wow, that's harrowing to hear. So sorry to hear about that. It's incredible how much of this is going on around us that we're unaware of.

Love this so much. One of my buddies in Orlando lost his sister to Human Trafficking and little could be done to rescue her. Gorgeous work.

Very challenging subject matter. You did a great job capturing it without being obscene.
