Logo for an up & comin' hat shop. Love some feedback as this is still gettin' approved. Much appreciated!! Comments most welcome as always! Thx in advance y'all!
Beautiful type choice! I love how it mimics (atleast to me) what stitched type might look like.
One think that kinda bothers me though its not the type or the mark but how the type is so Solid and heavy while the Mark and its strokes are so light. Theres a disconnect a little to me.
@mike. I am pickin' up what you are throwin' down brotha - so how do we fix that?? Also its a moded version of @Ryan Welch 's "Matchup" Typeface! Thx for the font bro.
Mike, this has a very nice feel overall. The S is slick. I would try a few things:
- Flip either one of the "x" stitches on either so it's symmetrical with the other "x" stitch.
- Might try killing the dash dot dash and run "headwear" either straight (no curve) under Stitches or curved down. Possibly add some embellishments/ornaments on either side of "headwear"
- Might try making the "x" stitches a bit less bold so the "S" isn't fighting against them, maybe match the thickness/feel of some of the more ornate stitching in the detail of the "patch"
Me likey dat "S" .. I definitely agree that the type isn't completely cohesive with the mark... I think "STICHES" needs a little more of an organic feel, (kind of mimicking the S in the mark), while the "headwear" could stay the same.. that miiight do the trick.
P.S. do I spy @Ryan Welch's Matchup? *didnt notice you mentioned that prior.
If I had to agree with @mike. , to an extent, I would just say to pull the mark a touch higher and actually increase that "disconnect". Everything else is boss, bro. Dig it!
I think it might involve some custom type I really like the design of this type. But I think if you some how trim it down a little or maybe even look for some new similar type. First thing to my head is this http://www.typedepot.com/corki
@Kelsey Collins word. I did mention it on an edit to my second comment - you got it! Its @Ryan Welch 's "Matchup" Font good stuff! but turning out might not work - will keep messing with it. Thanks for the feedback yo! Diggin' your ideas!
I actually think the stitches need less of an organic feel to match the word mark. I would explore loosing the white line (beveled bit) on the X's and simplifying the hole they are going into, and see how that feels. Also, consider ditching the second (grey) inner line in the patch, it should allow that dashed stroke to stand out a little more.
(of course all this is knit-picking, shit is dope)
