Woke up this morning thinking about how much I like longform journalism and how I wish there were a better way to comment on large, complex pieces. I had an idea for inline comments that I decided to flesh out a little bit. (Embiggened view attached.)
Highlight any part of an article to bring up a comment box. Any other users who made comments on content that included the section you highlighted would also show up, creating micro-comment sections. This gives you the granularity to discuss even the smallest details of an article while still leaving room to consider the piece as a whole.
Would love to hear your thoughts!

Cool idea Patrik, I would like to see a working model of this. Get coding ;)
Thanks Dan! I'll put my nose to the grindstone :)
Just an update for @Dan Burgess and others, I've seen this type of specific commenting implemented in a few places lately, such as Branch. Glad to see it being used, and used well.

Really nice, I love this functionality too. I know Medium has implemented it as well.
