@Andrew Harrington I don't thiks so. It looks like a mistake. But i don't want to believe that it is possible. There must be a reason. I'm very interested what @Ben Barnes thinks about it
It is kind of weird to prioritize on the town and not the name of the team. I think that it would be a bigger challenge to nail the word Pelicans and put it in the focus while putting New Orleans in a secondary position. Fleur-de-lis is also too small to play any role in the message here and it will suffer a lot at downsizing (no matter the alternate logos, there's always a primary one). Also, color combo could be more original and there's plenty of room compared to other teams. Purple/green or purple/orange come to mind, while red/blue can already be seen with Clippers, Wizards, 76ers, Pistons, Hawks or Cavaliers.
I'm fresh with the identity analysis of all the NBA teams so I had to leave a comment. Hope there's no hard feelings, all the sports identity freaks of the World "hate" you right now for having such a great gig and gigantic client to brag with :) :)
Wow! Saw this yesterday and it's really in a class of its own as basketball logos go. That's a huge gig, congrats, and well executed! I'm sure it was no easy task getting it through the management.
Congrats. I created the TWolves/Trees primary mark back in the day. I know the process was a long road. :) Great job, personally not a fan of the nickname but love the 'NOLA' mark.

New Orleans Pelicans primary logo I had the great fortune to create under the direction of RARE Design. Let's go Pels!

I like it overall, but the lack of room between the N and E (and possibly the O and R) jumps out at me a bit.

Great work, Ben. Did you also create the secondary logos as well?

The project is overall great, but I can not get over one issue.
Why top line is closer NO than the bottom line?
Is NO gave a lot of changes?
How long did you do this project?
Congratulations

@Lunatic Agency I assume it's to make the type look like it is pushing forward from the 'frame' a little. Solid work on this, Ben.

really awesome gig. my only real issue is the gap between 'new' and 'orleans'. "you could land a jumbo jet in there".
