I rediscovered the fantastic budgeting app Back in Black today. Despite its nice colors, the original icon doesn't appeal to me, mainly because of its prominent use of text.
This is my attempt in creating a nice icon for this otherwise great app. The main focus (also source of the app's name) is for you not to get into red figures, which is what I'm hinting at here. The idea came to my mind immediately, and I'm happy with how the dark blue/black to red gradient turned out.

An icon I wouldn't mind having on my Homescreen. This is a nice example of how an icon can look great without having all that fake 3D stuff.
what @Giancarlo Nicolof said.
Just add a slight/subtle inner glow (or stroke in lighter color) to the circle so you'd get a bit more sharper edge.
EDIT: I noticed that there already is a subtle border, I guess you should just amp it up a little bit.
What's the red for? Red when dealing with money is scary. I like it, though. I wonder how green would look (if any color at all).
@Matt Zanchelli Interesting idea, it definitely looks more positive. :P Which is probably important for a budgeting app.
Looks good, but reminds me of ballpark app.
@Matt Zanchelli I'm guessing the red was just for dramatic effect. I'd like to see green as well, but feel it may "cheapen" the design. You could try a mix of purples and blues. I really like this design, @Janik Baumgartner :)
