Nice work. I have two points of thought while viewing them couple with a blurb in your initial description (on the rebound):
1) Feels like the overall Gmail design (probably the actual features more so than the visual design) but the minimalism here is used better, where Gmail's implementation is actually *less* minimal than the seems (you have to click to reveal things that shouldn't be hidden).
2) You mentioned viewing this on a 1080p monitor *or TV*; from a usability POV, have you given any thought to how you would use, say, a game controller to navigate/use this design vs a computer cursor & keyboard? With browsers and apps hitting TVs (I read that the Xbox is finally getting a browser?) I feel the user interaction design on these platforms is going to require some serious re-thought, especially where traditional computer apps are concerned, like email.
What are your thoughts on this design and the (interaction) design of desktop app caliber apps on TVs, game consoles & set top boxes? What kind of fundamental changes will need to happen to facilitate this transition (think: the change in app design after the advent of the multitouch only display (phones, et al))?

No thoughts on this at all? That's pretty disappointing for a UI designer.
