Thanks everyone. Still have a lot to do but it's coming along.
@James Veluya - What's in the shot here are two, drafting lead holder: one from Staedtler with 2H lead, the other from Kohinoor with 2B. 2B is a little soft for my tastes and I'd prefer HB but that also has the potential to score paper so, ymmv.
@John Kane Smith, @Nikita Prokhorov - As for vintage lead-holders, I really dig on the Kohinoor (picked up from Miller Blueprint here in Austin), as it's a bit thinner than the Staedtler, but there's really not much tech to be had with these; they all work pretty much the same way. Push the button to release the lead to the desired length, sharpen, party-on. :P
Now, lead-pointers are an entirely different story. I use a standard rotary lead pointer but I've seen an electric version in a Lynda.com tribute video to the late, great Doyald Young. I would give some vital organs to get my mits on one of those. Sadly, it seems like they aren't even manufactured anymore which is sad really. I know quite a few hand-letters who would likely pick one up.
Such a joy to see your work! And particularly nice to see you young folks using the old school tools I have in boxes in the studio. May your tribe increase!

@RaitG - Sorta gothic, sorta italic, just kinda letting it grow organic-like. We'll see where it ends up. ;)
@Cory - We certainly do. I'll be up in Dallas for a couple weeks, we should try to get some hang time!
