I know what you mean about the style of the other being more pleasing but I think this one wins. Simply because it is more Disney. Disney isn't simple, init.
@Matt Scribner I really like the shadows on the alternate version, but this is still my favorite of the two. Maybe if you pulled back on the intensity of the roof tiling. Could be as simple as muting the reds and blues in the tiles so they didn't stand out as much. Then lay the shadows on.
@Laura Bohill That's a really good point about Disney never being simple! Thanks.
@John Ashenden Yeah, that's a good thought. I'll implement those for sure.
This definitely isn't complete by any means. The top half has so much detail and the bottom is a little simpler, I'm going to clean up the top part a bit and throw some more details on the bottom, for example there's two trunks that usually sit beneath those two windows and I'm gonna add a little wood texture to the door. Probably some shadows all over for some depth and going to add the full train station platforms on the left and the right. Maybe even do the Mickey flowers in front of it.

Looks HOT! I like @John Ashenden's idea of having the detail be almost a texture. Either way, I'm with you in liking the simpler version more.

The type works in this one because it is detailed and small like the details of the rest of it though.
