No. Your current design has a warm, less generic, more creative feel. This is just my two cents, but this seems like a step in the wrong direction. The only thing your current site needs (at least the first to mind) is to be responsive, and for the header on the blog to not be so ominous.
It's very subtle.
I CAN'T SEE SHIT!
Good harmony with the grid.
The picture in the header makes me feel at home. The structure itself is good.
Your cutting out pooch! I'm so excited to see someone finally using columns of type!!! : )
ironic pixel perfect statement?
I think your current site is better than this.
Here's a Crazy idea to try, may be place those 4 links next to you/ below the logo. That may provide some balance. Right now, if you stand up the links may get squished ;)
Also like the idea of new pic, something where you're sitting at a slight angle, just so that your view/perspective kinda guides to those links.
where's the dog
@Kerem I'm more of a "Simple but Tasteful" guy anyway, so this looks really good in my opinion. The layout and use of space is great. Cant wait to see more. Cheers brotha.
I prefer your current website, the layout is fine, but its hard to tell if the flow is right as we don't actually know what the content is outside of the heading text.
I would expect any designer worth his money to be able to layout a website correctly and in a good flow, so it would of been nice to see a little more.
I'm a big fan of the colors. I really like those vibrant blues and greens against the gray. Kind of tones them down a bit. I'm a fan of how it seems like you kind of pulled some elements from your CV. Makes it seem like all of your branding meshes well together.
The only thing I would change is removing the booger from your nose. Oh and change the type.
Nice start, Kerem.
Not fully understanding where this page exists in the flow of your site, take these comments with a grain of salt...
It's a little hard to see from this vantage point, but that area with the icons feels like it should match the column width of the text above. I might try a key line or subtle gradient (are those still cool?) to help define the area. If you're already doing that, never mind.
Also, that initial copy at the top of the page seems pretty meaty. I might gloss over it. To make it easier to parse, maybe try subdividing it into three columns and giving each column a caption?
Also, bumping up the size of the header text would make things a little more dramatic. It's probably already a big size, but I think once you zoom out (as you've done) - you notice it's pretty similar to the body copy below.
One last comment, make it however you want ;)
Love it. Plenty of space to breathe, and that grid is sexy. One thing I'm curious about is the vertical spacing around the last center-aligned circle, it looks like it has a little too much space above or not quite enough below.
Beautiful progression from your current site.
Great look and feel. The text on the top seems a bit heavy though, maybe you could break it into multiple paragraphs and do it a bit more interesting with the typography (not too fancy smancy either).
Start by uploading a bigger picture. Nothing to really even see here.
Feels... Empty. Current site stuff is so very nice. This... seems bleak.
Nice and clean. Great work!
@Nicholas Swanson thanks man. You are right about the spacing. I often work on a Photoshop file with no layer names, no care for extreme pixel by pixel attention to detail, and this usually is the first iteration. Then I clean up the PSD file, name everything, work on the spacing etc. In this case it's not couple pixels off, it's more like 30 pixels off, I must have been drunk :) Progression is my keyword man, current site is heavy, noisy, non-responsive. I felt it was time to move to a more scalable and lighter version. (Drinks soon?)
@Kerem Suer I work the same way. Drunk, I mean. So yea, let's grab a few cold ones soon and we can both head back to our respective screens and misalign the shit out of some websites. :)
I'm on my iPhone, so all I can say about it now is the amount of text is overwhelming. The focus should either be on you or your work. People on the Internet don't read more than 4+ sentences. Trust me.
@Kerem Suer I'm assuming you're focusing people's attention downward towards the 'button' at the bottom at which I will assume is a link to your dog's blog.
But seriously, I think it looks really clean and I like it. I would agree that the text may be a bit too long, but hey; if you can't get it any shorter without loosing something - go for it. I'm a fan of anticipation so I can't wait to see what else you have to show
