It's been an amazing year for this little resource and to celebrate, I'm rolling out an update so you'll be ready for all the icons you're going to create in 2013.
Since I launched appicontemplate.com in late March 2012, the template has been downloaded more than 70.000 times and the site has gotten more than 260.000 pageviews! It's drummed up more than a thousand tweets and a thousand likes on Facebook. I have received hundreds of emails throughout the year, and it's been great seeing all of the icons created with the template. With so much support and interest it seems obvious that I should keep this template up-to-date and evolving. In this new version 2.1 I have added proper iOS 6 Screenshots so your icons will look fancy in the new App Store design. I have added 4 new textures; Gold, Silver, Machined Metal and even good old Linen (Hah!) for you to play around with. I have also added some new grid guides in the Smart Object so it's easier to align your elements.
I always had to manually remove it by filling the whole image after exporting. I have seen a lot of icons with that problem in the App Store. Not sure if they used your template though.
@Elias Klughammer Looks like you either forgot to hide the layer called "HIDE ME WHEN DONE" in the Icon.psb file or, more likely, used rounded exports instead of squared exports (Apple does not support transparency in app icons and will translate them into black pixels). This last reason is the biggest source of the black pixels you see marring many icons on the app store.
