So last night at 9:30pm I started with a blank photoshop canvas. I needed to build a celebration/giveaway site for my blog The Industry, since we turned one year old today! 12-12-12!
I launched it this morning around 8:00am: http://theindustry.cc/1/
It was a crazy night! I live streamed the whole thing and a bunch of you awesome people stuck around with me all night! Checkout the videos here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/drew-is-live
Was fun, and exhausting :) I even managed to make it retina... well not the sponsor logos.. but the other images are. The reason it was so easy to make it retina is because it's mostly css design and not image design.
It also responds to you sizing down your browser ;)
Go Win some amazing stuff!! NOW! We're giving away a BUNCH of cool stuff! http://theindustry.cc/1/

Impressive, man. Great work. I couldn't believe you got responsive in there too. What did you start out with as a code base / skeleton?
nothing.. blank text editor.. if u wanna spend a few hours you can watch it come together line by link on ustream ;)
"line by link" :>
hahah oops... must been autocorrect fail.
Looks freaking awesome, also congrats on one year mate.
its great, I loved the simplicity :)
Was fun to watch you work through it last night. Great job!
Nice work @Drew, The Industry is definitely a great resource for the design community. Congrats to you and the team. Cheers!
I tuned in for a bit, very cool. The site looks awesome too!
Nice job man - I too like to start from scratch on responsive builds. Bake it right in as you roll.
@Drew Wilson Jeez dude! I watched most of it, all i can say is what an absolute champion, i truly admire you. Congrats to The Industry Team keep up the awesomeness.
Literally amazing mate! So VERY impressed, and I agree with @Dan Lebowitz, I cannot believe you managed responsive AND retina. Great work and truly inspiring (man I'm slow...).
On another note, I thought you had Justin Bieber on your team until I realised it was a guy named 'Chris' :D
@Drew Wilson Congrats on this page (and the previewed Industry 2.0 layout.)
A big thanks to both you and @Jared Erondu for making this community, and especially for the opinions section. There's some great design and life philosophy being fleshed out by the team.
@Drew Wilson Awesome work man, I passed out around the wee hours but the stream was great :) Congrats again on the 1 year of the industry.
Great work @Drew Wilson I personally learned a few tricks just keeping up with the webcast
I rly like it and even like it more like the industry standard gray site ;) Unfortunately the stream quality is so bad I have to guess what u're writing. But awesome work!!!
Amazing work Drew, I was watching (on the side while I was working) for a few hours, pretty much through the end. It was so exciting!
Good stuff. Always impressed with your work.
Drew finally gettin' flexy. Looks awesome man. You always know how to make interactions (the hover on the boxes) feel natural and just right.
