    This is still in Photoshop at the moment, but it'll all be done with CSS soon (except for the noise, stripes and icon, of course :)

    And as you've already seen over here, there may also be some CSS3 Gradient trickery afoot (though transparent PNG gradients may end up being used to improve affordance in browsers that don't do CSS3 Gradients...)

    Normally I hate how overbearing these messages are (usually too large), love that this is the same height as the form field. Is the checkmark necessary with the message?

    @Kyle: I'm experimenting with different levels of feedback at the moment — seeing how the icon+message plays out with error messages as well, but chances are the "floating" messages will stay, and the icons will go :)

    I kind of like the checkmark. Checkmarks make me feel like a successful person (even if it's just on a signup form) - is that sad?

    I like the overall design here, but think the checkmark is also a bit redundant. Though on the side of usability maybe its required? Either way, good stuff.

    I'm toying with various types of feedback at the moment — might end up leaving both in once we start testing with Real People™ and see how folks react to various combinations.
