Huge fan of this style and I've been recently trying it out myself. The shadow looks a little out of place tho. I'd remove it or try a 2px dark blue stroke.
The shadow looks better in other screens of the app. I still think it's good to have a shadow below the main nav bar since it doesn't scroll with the rest of the content and is separate from the content. That's just me though :)
You could mimic the shadow effect bij adding a 2px darker red/pink border instead of the shadow below the navbar. To emphasize the separation. Just a thought ;)

Like all the cool kids these days, I'm trying my hand at that trendy new flat style.
Must… resist… drop-shadows!

Everything looks really cool but the shadow looks really out of place... Perhaps making it totally flat like a solid shadow without blur?

UNLIKE all the cool kids doing the 'flat' style, yours is well executed. Nice choice of colours, too!

Is it really new and trendy? I think it's been around for a long time.

@Tim de Groot @Bruno Martins thanks, I'll try that
@Brian Potstra thanks :)
@Pete Lacey for me the style itself is not actually new, but what's new is Hi-DPI displays that make that style look good.
