Snapshot of the 'Upcoming Events' area within client intranet. This is the monthly calendar, with options to move between months or search specific month/year.
Goal was to create a clean, unobtrusive calendar with intuitive interactions that is understandable at a glance.
@Ted Goas I wanted to experiment with a nontraditional format while maintaining a large enough area for fingertips to select their intended date.
Plus, I'm saving a small bit of vertical space for other intranet modules (that surround it within its page context, obviously not able to be shown here ;)

The 45 degree lines could probably be axed and I think the days could be slightly larger.

Went back and forth on those lines, so I appreciate the input.
I wanted to make the days a bit bigger, but they were worried about the calendar dominating the area (which sits side-by-side with an events listing).
Intranet designin' be tough man. They want to cram ALL sorts of stuff in small areas and of course, every element is "most important."

Those are some wiiiiide calendar dates. What made you expand them beyond, say squares?
On another note, I dig the disabled dates that fall outside of the current month. Nice design!
