Although I love the Apple logo against that inset block at the top, I don't think it's necessary on that first screen... if you pull the sub navigation up to the top, you'll get to see almost an entire extra row of albums. Once a song is playing, the block at the top drops down...
@ Chris Allen I can see your point, I just think that most people launching the music app, do so because they want to select an album or song to listen to, so the Apple logo on the start screen wouldn't stay there for long as it will change to the 'now playing' interface. Just like in iTunes. It's that comparison and familiarity I was shooting for - a consistency that a user feels comfortable with.
