Third poster design in the series. This one depicts the earliest part of Houdini's career with his wife Bess shown performing in the lowest rung of entertainment, dime museums. The attachment shows a larger detail and a photo of some of my reference materials. I worked from a small image from the Web and recreated the illustrations by hand with pen. I sourced some of the complimentary wood type from specimen examples from the mid to late 1800s. The final poster size will be 5.5" x 9.25", which is a smaller advertising format of the period. It was in this particular dime museum in Chicago that they perfected their signature illusion, the Metamorphosis.
