got another idea for menu icon interaction while sketching a wireframe.
The idea here is since the main screen (that's overlapping the menu) will still stick out a bit, rotate the menu icon º90 to turn into gripper. What do you guys think, which one do you like better?
By the way, that awesome fella you see in this shot is Eric Hoffman, but yall already knew that.

I like the animation for sure.... But the icon itself connotes that where you are moving is a list. So i feel like the turn messes up the visual metaphor.. You have great work for sure though :)
As nice as the rotation is, it's a gripper so it should hint that it should be grabbed and moved _horizontally_, so it should really be vertical stripes all the way.
I like that!
Off-topic, are you using software for the sketching? The tools pallet doesn't look familiar.
@Nick @Jeffrey de Groot thanks guys :)
@Donald Johns @Jack Bingham Thanks guys for the feedback, I do see what you mean...
But since you're already at the list why do you need list icon still? Wouldn't changing it to something you can grab and swipe back make more sense, it's basically a back button after all.
@Jake Toolson Thanks, it's SketchBook Pro.
It's always the simple things :D Great idea and execution.
@Eddie Lobanovskiy the icon represents the menu it's taking you to. You're changing it from a symbol of the next screen to a handle, which isn't totally obvious. Check out the new Rdio app for a really good example of animating the nav icon.
@Eddie Lobanovskiy in what SW are you cooking this animated GIFs?
Nice, clean & smooth, excellent work man.
@Eddie Lobanovskiy Echo @musHo's question, and this looks incredible!
@Jack Bingham that's why I didn't care if it messes up the visual metaphor, that's what I was trying to explain. Just downloaded new Rdio no icon animation.
@musHo @Anthony Lagoon good ol' after effects.
@D. Moore @Ray thanks guys! :)
Really like what you done here!
If I have to say something... you have your iPhone blocked (the locked icon in the top) so... you cannot interact with the app! heheh... just to be picky :P
This is rad!
Very nice Eddie.
I love it and totally understand your idea.
Looking at your wireframes makes me drool. Would love to learn more about how you use SketchBook Pro for your wireframes!
It just works.
Its really nice interaction, but it`s actualy "lying" bcs the that icon for me means menu with horizontaly oriented content and if you will turn it like this it means icon for the verticaly oriented content @Eddie Lobanovskiy . Maybe i`m wrong but this is how i feel it. :)
Nice! But, sadly, such a nice touch would be covered by a lot of users fat fingers.
Very nice! I would play a lot opening and closing it :)
Is that animation made with Xcode?
