@Greg Maletic: I started with a gray-gradient'd version of the week control, but was thinking it looked a little heavy, hence the switch to one that matched the list. Just added that version as an attachment, for comparison. I'm interested what you think of the contrast.
I like the gray one, and my -guess- is that the typical user would find the gray screen a little easier to parse. But I think both are fine; it's good either way. (One possible compromise: keep it all white, but put a drop shadow below the calendar to emphasize that the components below represent a scrollable list? (At least, that's what I assume it is!))

Very nice. Clean and easy to read.
The only change I'd consider is unifying the blues, between the navbar and the selection.
