   Frustrated by trying to 're-brand' myself. I think I might roll with this Anvil but I'm not sure. Arg.

   It looks a little too skewed and just sort of floating in the badge. What's the reason for the anvil?

   @Kyle Schmitz I agree about the badge, I think that idea has been done too many time over :( I like the anvil because I design & build things & I try to hand craft things as often as possible (e.g. sketching a lot, working with my hands before digital) and it's sort of similar to my name ;) Anvil / Alec haha

   Our last names are similar. I explored it during my logo creation and Schmitz or Schmidt is basically German for "Blacksmith". So the anvil is a great fit, but I think you need to explore it further and refine the idea and add some details.
