Wanted to make an elegant, but a joyful loose hand-lettering style at the same time.
See the attached sketches for the initial direction I took as well as the other iterations I made. Though I really like the disconnected 'f/u' ligature in the sketch, I'm not sure about legibility, so I changed things on-the-fly as well as other iterations based upon the one shown here.
really pumping out some solid type work lately gert. this is really nice. it would have been interesting to see a vectorized version of the attached sketch...the 'efu' treatment is beautiful on that one.
I really like where this is going, dude. What would it feel like if the "L" was opened up a bit to mimic the "G" and "F"? Those letters are flowing so well.
Hey Gert, looks like I'm 3 months late with my comment but nevermind – beautiful work on this one. I really love the minimal stroke contrast, it works impressively well. Stunning, elegant curves on the 'G' and 'f' in particular, they really feel appropriate for the word. Have a great weekend, I hope you're doing well!

Wow. That's about as close to "elegant, but a joyful loose hand-lettering style" as I've ever seen. Lovely work Gert.
