There's something about that circle around the avatar that looks out of wack? I know it's not and that it's all an illusion because of the white border and drop shadow (i.e. drop shadow not present at top thus making the space between the edge of the avatar and the grey circle look bigger).
Seems like it would look more balanced if you chose either the outer border and no drop shadow or the drop shadow with no outer border. Either that or put the drop shadow at 90º/distance=0
It's the fact that the outer circle has a drop shadow instead of an outer glow. While it gives the circle depth, the lack of shading above the circle makes the outer ring appear a little strange.
Most likely not a big deal in the greater sense of things, but noticeable within this small viewing area.

I imagine this little popout would make that noise, "Plooop".

@Luke Etheridge @James ✌ A dark outer-glow / equal box shadow (css) would sort it.
Loving the tooltip!

I agree @Nathan Yates with your resolve but I'm not sure if the design of the avatar, when it's inactive, will look so smart?
I like the tooltip too by the way. Very neat and I love the opacity.

Also, your tool tips never disappoint. :)
