   The Mercedes star is probably one of the "untouchables" but combined with a more modern font i couldn't resist doing the Mercedes logo since i feel the company really needs to "up" their branding game to attract a younger audience.

   haha yeah.. but compared to Audi, BMW they are a bit dusty - atleast in Europe

   The original Mercedes font is one of the most recognizable ones in the whole world, I think that`s why they kept, and will keep it for a very long time. Many people I know recognized what the company behind the font is, even if there was something random written as text. :)

   @Konrad Szuster i'm not sure i agree with you on that one - i think it's a question of how much you have been "exposed" to that font-type and i assume that you coming from Germany would have seen the Mercedes branding a lot.

   i'm pretty sure my first thought wouldn't be - hey that's the mercedes font.

   The font is terrible, they have also a sans-serif version of their font. That would maybe be a way ...
   And your star has, in my opinion, some strange proportions.

   Also they tried to modernize their star by removing the 3D effect some years ago (http://www.fontblog.de/wp-content/mercedes_neu_3_gross.jpg). But as far as I know, they already dropped it again.
   They also on a way making their cars more sportier to attract younger audiences. Much better way to change such a well known branding, in my opinion.
