Wanted to get in on this playoff. I'm fairly new to logo design, coming from a web background, so would love to hear your thoughts.
The amazon logo has always annoyed me. I like the simplicity of the logo, and wanted to keep that, but I don't feel the current logo accurately represents either the name of the company, or the services it provides.
One of the biggest features that I think they offer is the "One click" purchasing option, and so I built an animated logo kinda based around that.
Check out the attachment to see how the animation looks, my thinking was it could be used as the image in the shot normally, and then for video advertising the animation would work well, with a "click" sound as the cursor disappears, creating the negative space for the A.
Your idea is really good, but I think the execution of the logo hasn't got the same quality as the idea. I couldn't understand what you wanted to show in this logo before I watched the animation and read it's description. I think the original amazon logo actually looks pretty good and says a lot: the fact that they have everything from a to z, or that they deliver stuff (the arrow) or even a smile (everyone knows how excited we are when a box from Amazon arrives at our door). I would suggest going with the same theme of the logo and try to integrate somehow this great idea without ruining the rest of the logo's sense and meaning (maybe edit the way the arrow tip so that it looks like a pointer).
Hi @Marcus Tiplea Thanks for the comments, it's definitely helpful, I did kind of rush this before heading out to be honest, and I hadn't noticed the a to z aspect of the original logo, now you've pointed that out it makes a lot of sense. I might revisit this at a later date when I've got some more time and try and make it a little more polished
@James Dinsdale - I think amazon would be stupid to change their logo to something like this as their logo is unique, fun, professional and goes great with how and what they deliver. On that note: for a 2.0 style font / design that you've created, I really like it a lot, I dont think it works for amazon but I do think that if it was for another company named "amazon" that it would be great! Enjoyed taking a look at this though (cough still a little similar in the sense of it being like the new "ebay" icon), but hey who knows, ebay went with a new icon, maybe amazon will follow suite and then you can say I told ya so!
@Dawson Vosberg You're right, as I said above all I did was type Amazon and hollow out the a, it was solely about the animation as a marketing tool, I'm sure someone with more talent than me could turn the concept into something useable

Looks cool. I would scoot the A over just a tad to the left...

This kinda feels...lazy to me. There's nothing that unique or striking or recognizable to it.
