Leaning On Learning - Illustration Series II

Every time that I've needed strength to deal with a difficult situation, I've thought about the kind of values that I believe in - thoughts that have shaped me to be the person that I am. Most times, I've found an answer to the situation I'm struggling with. The kind of art I like, is a reflection of these thoughts. A few days ago, I started working on a series that I now call 'Leaning On Learning'.

This series showcases thoughts that resonate strongly with me - all from movies, literature and music that have moved me. Here's the second one - a quote borrowed from a beloved mystic.

People that are closest to me know that if I were to ever get a phrase inked on my body, it would be this. Society and other forces have been determining what’s right and wrong for the longest time. Whether it is deciding to build a career in a field of choice, deciding what kind of people you should be friends with, whom you must and mustn't love, decisions have been made by a subconscious forced hand more times than not.

Explore that field beyond mankind's narrow minded theories. Everything isn't black and white. There are grey areas that might not be easy to understand because certain notions have been drilled into our heads. This thought gives me the courage to do just that. I hope it does the same for you.
