  2. I want to be able to use much larger photos as that's what I'm passionate about and what to share more of, so while the content will still be the same 620px, the images can break out of that.

    Images will lazy load, then slide in from the side as you scroll and they fade in. Maybe. We'll see what that feels like. Other ideas include parallax scrolling on the header image. Have it shift ~50px when the user scrolls. And have a tiny expand icon on the bottom right of the cover photo area to let the top expand and show the user the entire photo.     I'll also be able to specify a cover image for each blog post if I like and the top header area will change accordingly.
