Here's another imaginative attempt to seamlessly integrate iTunes controls into OS X. Credit to @Neal Ellis for suggesting to include it into Notification Center.

Sweet :) This looks great! It got me thinking about how you might pick a new album/song, and whether a compact search field could be included. But... Spotlight is right above it, so it should just display an unobtrusive play button beside its song results.
@Neal On the first version, I got to thinking that maybe switching albums was too much for the this 'quick controller'. So in this version I just thought it would be better if I left it only to the current playing album. iTunes still has it's purpose. But using spotlight with it is a great idea.
