As far as the weight change goes, this guy actually never made it to vectoring. This is just a quick autotrace of a final sketch in Illustrator. The difference in wheight was just built on to the original version in pencil. Here's what the final sketch looked like: http://ha.mrick.me/JyNh
And thanks for the sketch, that helps. I have a word mark that I'm exploring. I'm first trying to figure out what shape I want the lettering to take and then second will be adding some weight to it. It's a challenge.
