Working on the visual identity for a company that will build web-based applications and tools for financial service companies such as online banking applications and consumer loan platforms.
Anyone seen EXACTLY THE SAME logo mark before? Thanks in advance!
No I haven't seen a logo that looks 'exactly' the same before, however there are two points that I want to mention. Firstly, for a company building 'web-based applications' and tools for 'financial service companies' such as 'online banking applications' and 'consumer load platforms'. I see no link to any of the points I have highlighted. There's nothing denoting application, development or the web, and there's nothing denoting financial services, banking or loans. To me if anything it looks more like an overpass allowing people to turn around on a highway. In this case, to me it seems to be misdirecting consumers. Secondly, it looks like half of the command button on a Mac to me, being a PC user, as far as I am aware, the Mac has no direct relation with web-based applications or financial services. While they can be linked, the Mac is just the platform. I would look at incorporating the various aspects and services offered by this company. Link the logo to web-based applications or financial services, however the second could be a little confusing as well. I hope I've helped in some way.
@Flavius Mihaiu thanks for sharing Flavius. I got a simple question for you: does Lacoste sell crocodiles? Or is it a ZOO maybe? Or is it a touring agency that does Australian safaris? Or is it a publisher of illustrated books for children? Or is it a 'save the planet and wildlife' type of environmental organization?
I like it. Obviously I can see the CMD symbol from a mac, but it also looks a bit like a pound sign (or a currency symbol for a totally new currency!) and I think the simplicity is its strength. Will it be paired with a wordmark? Would be interesting to see how it interacts. I can see @Flavius Mihaiu's point, but agree, I don't think that logos need to be entirely representative of the service.
@Alen Type08 Pavlovic - I absolutely understand what you mean, it was just an opinion because personally it helps me remember things when their logo matches what they are selling in some way. In the end it was up to you.
