With all the special powers Mimeo will have at his disposal the number of secret exits was beginning to outnumber the planned levels so I need something else to encourage exploration without quadrupling the amount of work before me. Enter the Megabit. It's like a Star Coin in Mario, 3 per level. Some easier to find than others. Collect them once. Probably just for a completion percentage but maybe I'll figure out something else cool that won't add a heap of work to my plate.
Ha. Love the mega/game thing. Also, sounds like a solid idea. Do you plan on doing any beta testing to help to balance these kinds of things out? With the game I'm working on I'm really worried about putting lots more effort into content (quests, items, lore, etc.) before I have other folks test it. It's kind of along the same lines of the content vs. amount of work thing.
I already worry that things that took me hours to write are going to be blown threw in minutes without anyone stopping to read it. :)
@Keith, there will be QA later in the process and the changes that need to be made will be made. Play and games are both so subjective. Game design by committee is bound to fail for all the same reasons design by committee is doomed from the start. I think for either to succeed you need a singular creative vision.
@John, I guess if you got one of those digital picture frames, set the time between photos really, really low and added each frame as an individual photo you could... :)
