Wouldn't it be great if iTunes had a more seamless integration with OSX for easy access to commonly used features? I think so.
I would love to be able to click on an icon in the top bar or use a hot corner to reveal a simplified iTunes controller for scrubbing songs, shuffling, repeating.. maybe even swiping to a new album.
Great idea! Very Apple-ish. Unfortunately, with the trend of sandboxing OS X apps through the App Store, I feel like Apple's unlikely to do something like this, even with their own apps. I think it's probably possible for a third-party app, though. You could try suggesting this to the devs of Sonora or similar apps.
Thanks @Chris ... Definitely, if Apple doesn't ever integrate iTunes in such a way, it would be great for a third party dev to do. I don't know much about the dev side of things, but it's something I would look into if I had the knowledge.
Nice concept man! I would use this for sure. the control icons could use some work tho. Darker like the inside of the status bar would look better imo.
Very nice, I love the idea! The icons to the left/right of the progress bar could use a little work though; the blue color of the enabled state could be slightly more vibrant, and the white shadow of the disabled icons is a bit too strong in my opinion.
Btw, would you mind me rebounding this? I don't actually know if I have enough time for that right now, but I'd love to give this concept a try as well! ;)
Nice idea! Above the menu bar looks great, but it makes me think that a smaller mini-player at the top of Notification Center (like Weather & Stocks in iOS) would be more likely one day.
I dig the concept of having a faster way of getting at iTunes without breaking from the rest of the screen while working. While the album covers look nice, they take up a lot of space and don't provide a way to get at specific songs. So for me, this concept wouldn't be practical. But that's just me.
For instance, I'd want to skip to 'The World is Watching' by TDCC! Seems we have similar taste in music :)
@Ted Goas LOL nice! yes we do... but I see what you're saying. Initially, I wanted to keep the functionality limited, but I wondered if that was a feature completely necessary (mainly since I use my next/previous track buttons on my keyboard). So I was on the fence about that anyway.
Here's another imaginative attempt to seamlessly integrate iTunes controls into OS X. Credit to @Neal Ellis for suggesting to include it into Notification Center.
Check out the 2x (sorry for poor quality) and the real pixels.

@Jona I don't mind at all, rebound away!
@Neal Ellis That's actually pretty clever, too.

@Kevin Hamil Thanks, as I said, I'll see if I'll have the time! Oh, and count me in on that taste of music as well! :)
