Hey Chris.. I just wanted to be honest about the icon, so hopefully it helps. The concept you have is very clean and the details are sharp, but really when I look at it, it's not something that draws me in or gets me excited about what the app is... and I think that is something that is very important.
So my critique is that it just feels bland. I don't have any specific feedback as to what could help this particular concept, BUT just judging by all your previous work I've seen I feel like you could maybe improve on this icon greatly if you revisited it. This is just my opinion, but I hope it helps.

Thanks Kevin. I hear what you're saying, but I'd have to disagree with you to some extent. Not all design needs to have the same level of shelf-shout and can remain successful to its intention. Facebook is a good example of blandness that has succeeded, based on its foundation. Basically, it doesn't need to express itself very much at all. There are also a myriad of other factors that determine the direction of design - In my case, it is the will of corporate politics that is the restriction. With that aside however, I am often of the opinion that soft-sell is as important as expressive and exciting design. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
