I haven't given up on the right hand nav with children idea just yet - here it is working on mobile. If you tap on Products, you'll see the products nav slide over and expand.
Attached are larger images of both the main nav and then main nav expanded with children.
@Rally Interactive (via Ben Cline) This looks slick! I can visualize a really cool animation on action. My only hangup is the distance between the icon and the title of the nav, maybe there is a better way to correlate the two..? The design itself is solid, awesome work.
Great work! Only thing is this settings button and drop down arrow looks a bit weired together to me. I'd try to make settings icon instead of button and align it with arrow. Just personal wish. Anyways it looks great.
It's hard to say without actually using it. I feel like if I were actually interacting with it, everything would make sense. I feel like looking at 2 screenshots there isn't a clear enough relation between selected main nav and the subnav that appears. Again, entirely possible that using it would make perfect sense and be very obvious. Kudos for not giving up, Ben!
