On the left we have Glyde in action, based on the natural proportions of the source animal (and loosely on the Firepuss sprite). On the right we have a different Glyde based on the Gaido sprite (pretty much a generic woodland animal with surface decoration).
I think I'm going with the latter. And redrawing Firepuss accordingly (fortunately I hadn't animated him yet).

I like the shape of the latter, but it looks more like he's hunched over, eating an acorn or some sweet eucalyptus sap.
