More practicing with my new brush pens. This time with my eldest daughters name, Sofia.
Can't get enough of the texture in this shot. I also love the rough edges of the lettering, it all feels really vibrant. (Great first letter too, you obviously picked your daughter's name for purely typographical reasons).
I like the emotion this communicates. Mainly for the reasons that @Claire Coullon mentioned.
pens rule the world in ink. always great unexpected character. i have a nice japanese sumi brush i use once in a while and its a blast! @Matt Vergotis
@Claire Coullon Thanks Claire, I'll try and honour those rough edges when vectoring. I've written this name a thousand times and I think i'll end up taking my favourite letters from different attempts to piece it together. This is definitely my favourite 'S'. I love the way the loop blows out with ink.
@Seth Jenks thanks mate. I'm stoked you like.
@Brandon Voss Thanks also mate. I have many hours of practicing ahead of me, but i'm enjoying the brush pens right now. The japanese sumi brushes look like a heap of fun. I can imagine I would need to open up my strokes a great deal with them. Right now everything I do is very small.
