Newspaper advertisement for the funeral home I live above. Color added in Photoshop just to get a rough idea of what a second color would look like, not sure how I feel about it just yet though.
Maybe a very light grey where the gold is? It'll be cheaper cost for them for BW ad. They have high taste asking you to do the ad :-) It's beautiful and definitely will stand out.
There's no doubt that the lettering and design are fantastic!!! But I feel like it had a cheerful feel, which is unexpected for a funeral home. Is it good or bad that it's so out of the ordinary for the industry?
Are you planning on carrying this look into other pieces of their promotional materials?
@Diane Faye Zerr - This is actually the only thing I'm doing for them at the moment. I didn't really see it as cheerful, so much as relative to the time period they established their business (which was in 1881) but I get how it can come off that way. I guess "friendly" isn't such a bad vibe to put out though for this industry.
Hopefully I'll be doing a website and some stationery for them soon as well. Thanks for checking it out!
I'd completely missed this, such a nice piece. I love all the stylistic variations and how it all fits together beautifully. I imagine it'll stand out amazingly in a newspaper, fantastic work!

@lisa romero - Agreed, it definitely is a bit dark!
@Inka Mathew - I think that's exactly what I'll end up doing when I take this into PS/AI and just finely halftone those areas. Glad you like it!
Thanks everyone!

This is great. Love the details - the filigree work and dots and such.

I'd agree with suggestions to make the colour a bit lighter but other than that I love it. Excellent work @Jason

Thanks @Claire Coullon - I think it's going to be printed next week, I'll rebound it when it comes out with a comparison to the old advertisement.
