I didn't like ebay's new logo so I spent 12 minutes and made one I liked instead.

Reaches better than theirs! It keeps the simplistic font they wanted, but kept more of the playful (overlap) feeling they previously had. You nailed it I think!

I like the simplified version of the new logo but think the uppercase B should have been incorporated, I feel it just makes it stand out a bit more.

So much better already… it really feels like Ebay pulled a "Bing" with their strange and unnaturally stretched wordmark. It's horrible to see how some large companies can be so blind to the quality of their own logo.

I'm with you on this one, while I think their new logo is an improvement on the old, I'd vote for yours. It just looks like the best way to modernise their existing brand while remaining faithful to the old. Nice job.

Why didn't they Hire you man?! This design makes sense. the overlaps were unique to ebay.. what were they thinking.
I think you should still send this copy to ebay designers (if this was an inhouse job)

@Faramarz Hashemi I don't envy the designers over at ebay. I'm almost positive that they had nothing to do with the final design and hate it more than we do. It was probably dictated by a bunch of politics and bureaucracy.

I am finding that more and more companies are taking the easy route when it comes to logo design. These well known brands can afford to do this simply because their brand is already known. Take Microsofts new revision of their logo, simple straight and flat and quite frankly shit. Just the same as ebays. Take the London Olympic logo, it caused quite a stir because people thought it was shit but look at it now, in itself it really is a good brand logo. So I think Microsoft, ebay, facebook, the london olympic logo and many other logos are doing something right as they are getting more and more people interested in the brand simply because they produce shit logos that people grow to like and admire!
