Playing around with type options for the finalized version of the film/heart mark. Had some issues with it starting off, but I think I've manged to resolve it for the most part...
Granted the name is a bit odd, so I'm wondering if you guys have any issues with readabiity, etc.?
I know it's a bit difficult to judge the type/mark relationship without seeing them side by side. At this point I'm just working out the type kinks. With these types of scripts, I sometimes end up tinkering with them a lot more than I'd like to... ;)
@Lane & @Neil - Cheers guys! That 'h' was giving me trouble... (Had a version with a longer crossover that made it look a lot like a 't') Glad to hear that it's working well now.
Readable for sure Mike. Did you try connect the a-h? that little gap stands out to me. Another nit pick is the straight arm of the D - you might consider something a little more bendy, just because everything else is smooth. over & out
@Luke - Tried connecting the 'a/h' several times, but just couldn't get it feel natural. I think the awkward spacial gap could probably be resolved with a minute kerning adjustment. You see I tried to echo the curve of the 'a' in the 'h' upright.
RE the sharp 'D' > I originally considered incorporating a balance of round / sharp throughtout, in order to echo the curves / point of the heart. Given the hard edge compliented by the large round curve, I think the sharp 'D' works...but without some other straight edges to go along with it, I agree that it sticks out a bit. The earlier versions were a bit rounder, but not 100% round. I'll take a look and see if some harder edges (terminals maybe) make sense.
Love it. Only thing I saw right away was that the "D" has more of a harsh straight line compared to the other letters, and further with that would be to try rounding that pointed edge ever so slightly?! Very readable and fits the mark.
I saw from your latest shot that you're pushing for another direction for the type, but just wanted to say that as a stand alone piece, this script is fantastic. No issues with reading it, it has some really smooth loops and curves, and I love the simplicity of the corners and stroke terminals.

Reads perfectly. Those D-e and h-l combos are superb.

I'll be curious to see how you integrate the mark with the type :)

I misread the 'h' as 'th' the first three or four times i read it.

Feels very joyful, also the 'D' just works

@Rich - I might try the tail a touch shorter still in an attempt to remedy that...but your scenario is certianly what I'm trying to avoid.
@Bart - Exactly the feel that I'm going for. Cheers!

This is beautifully balanced. Lovely loopiness too.
Is "loopiness" a word?

Has such a nice flow to it. :)
Would love to find out about the process you go through to get here. Have you written about it anywhere?
