Dont you think that colors grabs too much attention? Which is important but i feel like its too much here. How about putting numbers(notifications) in different kind of color (darker blue) and maybe use the smaller font, etc.. :)

I agree with @Frantisek Kusovsky. Orange is great for the "Today" section, but I do think that a complementary blue would be a great color to draw the eye to the numbers and check list.

What if you make the “Overdue” icon from the tapbar to another color, maybe a little darker to give the user the sensation of being “pressed”.
That's my 2 cents. All the UI looks really nice.
