Thanks Sascha! Yes, it's a rough wireframe for an ecommerce admin app, a way to build the customer navigation menus and update the landing page content in a wysiwyg format.
I've been building UIs in Illustrator lately before moving to Photoshop or HTML (after sketches of course). Photoshop is too distracting, and HTML is too limiting at this stage for me. Illustrator/paper lets me quickly focus on the concept and interaction rather than execution.
That's a great approach John. Wireframes allow for rapid changing of layout styles without getting too attached to design details. I've recently found a great collection of wireframe objects for copy and paste use. http://cl.ly/8f6a6231908656eac22f
Thanks again Sascha! I've just started playing with a Fireworks demo, thinking of trying that instead of Illustrator + Photoshop.
I guess my first two shots were a little out of character for Dribbble, wireframes instead of the beautiful renderings like you have on your profile. I figured I'd start with my current project in the state it's in and rebound with my future passes, hopefully soon.
Hey John. I don't use fireworks at all - this png is just handy to cut out some elements if you want to quickly built a wireframe. I'm still a photoshop and illustrator guy, although I exclusively design in the browser right now :)
you have to start with wireframes though, they are great.
thank you for the kind words on my stuff. you wireframes are just as nice, cause they give insight into another side of our work. i'm looking forward to your rebounds :)
Ah, sure. I've just started looking into Fireworks for prototyping, still trying to find a tool that lets me quickly experiment with interacting with a concept.
I find that when I design in the browser it's too easy to pass on ideas because I know how much work they'll be (or don't yet know how to build them), or having the issue of wanting to try an idea but it would take an hour to build when I'm not even sure I want it. I do a lot of tweaking in the browser in the building phase, but I'm trying to use Illustrator to get the ui and interaction right without thinking too hard about the technical or visual challenges/ideas at this stage. Sort of like freeform sketching, but I can't cheat quite as much with pixels as with a pen so i have to start considering screen constraints, etc.
