Basketball is my sport. Always was & will be, played it in high school, etc.
Over the long Labor Day weekend I created a basketball icon for fun & for practice. This was done 100% in Photoshop.
Please, view the process &/or 2x size attached as well. All & any feedback is welcome.

would prefer pink. :P
rad! amazing work dude!
Haha @Ryan Murphy ;-) I did it like the basketballs I used to use haha.
This came out really nice! Just a suggestion... The shading on the ball is done so well that I think transforming the pattern on the ball so that it has perspective would push your shot that much closer towards realism.
This example isn't realistic like what you've achieved with your shot, but notice how the shape of the pattern changes from the center of the ball to the edges. Just an example of what I'm talking about.
@Jared Tomeck You are absolutely correct. What's interesting is before I began this I thought that exact same thing in my head, & apparently forgot that detail once I dove in... Thanks for the feedback.
@Jared Tomeck I had a little time to play with the texture some more. Take a look at the new large_2x.jpg attachment.
That took an already great shot and took it to the next level :)
Woaaa, I love the process, Thanks Andy for showing your work & process! I will have it in mind for when I have to desing an Icon :)
