There's a couple of similar compounds but don't think it's been done quite like this before. The lightning forms the central vascular tissue of the leaf. Perhaps @Jens Windolf this is something of interest? Seems more of a natural union of the two forms.
Update.
While I created this idea independently and consider it the obvious next logical step for Jen's project - http://drbl.in/fdyA - this has been done before - http://goo.gl/6Cfon
Of course that's not a problem! I wouldn't have drawn it if I hadn't seen what you were posting. Like you said I was faster, unfortunately sometimes that's all it takes for someone to take ownership of an idea. I often keep concepts off Dribbble until I feel I've fully explored it and reached what I think is the most natural conclusion and then see what people think. Obviously it would be nice to be acknowledged for my small contribution.
Hi @M▲TTHEWC▲RLETON I'm not really sure what you mean. This wasn't meant for anyone else but Jens. If you were to appropriate this idea for your project I'd consider it plagiarism.
Great combination of two totally different elements. Definitely, a heavy dose of inspiration. It wouldn't surprise me featured as one of the best logos of the year, seriously. Again, congrats to @Rich Baird & @Jens Windolf for the concept.
