The icons are blurry, the notification text isn't centered. Also the icon in the search field isn't vertically centered. And I think the logo would work better with the outlines being white and text blue, like they have on their own page. And for some reason I don't like those little status icons being glossy at this size but that's just my taste, I guess. Nice work otherwise!
This doesn't improve on much, in my opinion. There's some nicer touches, but for the most part you didn't solve so many more important things like how wide this window is! Most chat&video clients are very thin, and there's no reason to stretch this all out.
In addition, this window truly calls too much attention to itself. I wouldn't ever use Skype if it looked like this because it being open would be incredibly distracting amongst gray windows.
It may be closer to their brand, but it's not built for SkypeOS, so you still should play by OS X's rules, and this is too far from realistic.
@Louie Mantia you know, you're absolutely right Louie this is not realistic. I don't work for Skype, and I am not redesigning their application for them to use. I did this merely for fun, and some visual practice... us smaller guys need it.
You are also right in terms of the window size. I was pretty much going off their size that they have now. I was thinking about a different approach on that, but thought what the heck, this isn't realistic and no one will use this.
I also thought about other gray windows, and since again, this is unrealistic I figured that from a visual standpoint it would be better not to include those in my shot.
I really do need to read up on and play by OS X rules, but I really just design web apps, and again since this was for fun, I didn't think that would be too important here.
I do learn from my mistakes though, and will definitely take the comments to my advantage and learn from your points.
I like it dude. I would only axe the skype bubbles, but appreciate that's their logo...otherwise...code me a new skype bro! Much nicer than the real ting, ya get me!

like it in overall, but don't really like the online skype icon and notif badge, it's not really clear and too small.

I'm not a fan of the glossy status icons but I think everything else is great, I love the way you've done the menu bar.

It's really nice but there is nowhere your name and your status. You can't see/change if you're online, busy or away...
