First day of introducing colour and texture to UI I'm working on. Icons are placeholder ones. Wood pattern courtesy of @Ryan Putnam - purchased at vectormill.com. Why re-invent the wheel when it's already done so beautifully :)

Looks great, that pattern is beautiful! You might want to go for a 90 degree drop shadow on the text, though.

I love the juxtapose of this crisp design and the more organic feel from @Ryan Putnam wood pattern. Great execution!

@ari Thanks. I intentionally made it 120 degree, but probably should change it to 90 degrees.

I like the midnight-esque kind of theme you got going on!

Love the patterns but the kerning between the 1 and the 3 seems a little bit wide to me. Maybe try tightening it up a little.

yellow is always good. You might want to have a look at the letter spacing? That '1300' seems a bit weird?

Which crate did that wood texture come from Regina?

This looks great @Regina Casaleggio! Too bad the kerning of 1300 is off ;)

Thanks for all the great comments!

@Liam Jay @Michiel de Graaf @Ivo Ruijters The kerning is off. If I tighten it up and the 1 changes to a 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9, it's too tight again - so I could get anal about it, but the 1 will very quickly change into a 2, 3 etc, so for this instance I think I can live with it.

@Regina Casaleggio Excellent example of function over form. Sometimes the reality of our work can justifiably differ from the pixel-perfection of Photoshop ;) The yellow is fantastic, but I wonder if poor Pete's name will get lost from lack of contrast with the white against the blue. Just lovely!
