Thanks for the insight fellow designers! Here is v.2. As far as color scheme, I decided to go more conceptual and have most of the upper parts of the letters blue to symbolize the blue sky and then have the yellow/orange symbolize beach sand, and the green and red symbolizing the cultural/artistic experiences in Spain.

It looks much better with the color changes. Also the white background is more appropriate.
I like this version better, Siah. That blue is great. Have you tried clean san serif for the place's name? Maybe just me, but I felt it need to be a clean typeface (less fuss) since the logotype has a lot going on.
Intriguing, Siah. I like that it stands apart from the Miró inspired España logo, which has colored counters.
