Testing some renders for case studies.
The awesome iPhone 4 model is from here - http://greyscalegorilla.com/blog/2010/06/free-iphone-4-model-for-cinema-4d/
Please see the attached image for more detail. Big thanks to our intern @Nick Schiefer for getting the lighting set up - Cause I don't know my head from arse in 3d. Although I did waste half a day yesterday messing with render settings out of Cinema 4D and trying to figure out the depth of field thing.... ugh
We're no @Mikael Eidenberg but we'll keep dreaming.....

Looks really nice! A little bit to much grain for my taste, especially on the green.
@Mikael Eidenberg @Jeff Witters thanks dudes!
Very nice work! Where did you get the render?
Curious, for renders like this, are you using an existing 3D model (with textures) or building/creating all of those yourself? /cc @Mikael Eidenberg
Looks great! really pops off the screen! I would agree with @Mikael Eidenberg that the noise might be a bit much on the green. But well done!
@Phil Coffman @Ari Sadly no, the iPhone 4 model is from here - http://greyscalegorilla.com/blog/2010/06/free-iphone-4-model-for-cinema-4d/
Although I almost had @Nick Schiefer model one, might have him model an iPad before he has to go back to school :P
/cc @Mikael Eidenberg
good work, guys!
@Phil Coffman The one from Anders Kjellberg works fine but I built my own. Waiting for the 5/6/new to be released so I can buld that one aswell.
@Mikael Eidenberg yours looks better IMHO. If anyone has the chops to sell their digital goods, it'd be you sir. Freakin' Rockstar.
cc/ @Phil Coffman
Looks really nice ben! If you need iphone renders ask my good friend konstantin! He sells them :)
@Julien Renvoye this @Konstantin Datz ? Where are the renders being sold? :)
Yep this one! ask him :) I bought 6 of them for my website :) http://www.julienrenvoye.com/#page6
@Julien Renvoye hahah thanks buddy :D
That looks great, I just want to touch it...
@Rally Interactive (via Ben Cline) How are you all getting it so the map stays in the background with the modal in the foreground?
I worked with a dev on replicating that, but since you can't take a screenshot of the map to show it in the background, we could only get a grey grid to show.
@Luke Bornheimer Hey Luke, it's interesting you ask about this :) We're actually using a screen from an older build (cheating). At the last minute before launching, we had to hide the map behind the modal because there was a very rare but nasty bug where it would freeze the screen (we think Map Kit was getting stuck in an infinite loop due to scaling and transforming in 3D) on the older 3G & 3GS phones.
Interesting! So, you got the map to display in the background, albeit with some bugs? It would be assume to chat more about this because it's such a cool animation and use of 3D for a modal.
@Luke Bornheimer Yes, it was actually working perfectly for a long time except for a fatal bug that very, very rarely happened only on the the 3G / 3GS phones. Hit me up on AIM if you want to chat more about it: welikeben
@Rally Interactive (via Ben Cline) Fascinating. It'd be great to catch up over chat. That your gmail as well? I'm lukebornheimer@
@Luke Bornheimer nah my gmail is benjamin.j.cline@gmail@ either or works
Loving it, Ben!
