    It took me some time to figure it out :-) What about 1024px displays? Still seem to be most widespread resolution (+iPad in landscape). How about 12 columns with 20px borders remaining?

    I won't be including any sort of a 960/1024 px layout, at least for now. I consider 320, 480, 768 and 1280 to be much more important for the next couple of years.

    Nothing is stopping people from adding their own layout, though. :)

    320 and 480? What are those for?
    iPhone and..?

    I like how you're thinking about the future rather than for dated equipment.

    @Brian Purkiss
    480 is great for iPhones and many other smartphones in horizontal orientation. Also, there are many Android phones that are 480 px wide in vertical orientation.

    Basically, it's there to bridge the huge gap between 320 and 768, so I can avoid having to make a fluid mobile layout.

    I understand your point guys. Mobile devices are definitely emerging strongly. But the reality today (and probably next 1-2 years) is that 1024 width is still by far most widespread, at least according to this: http://gs.statcounter.com/#resolution-ww-monthly-200910-201009

    I was hoping 1024 will die out with all those old corporate desktop machines with crappy LCDs, but iPad (and maybe other upcoming tablet devices) will probably rejuvenate it. What do you think?

    I greatly prefer reading websites with my iPad in portrait over than landscape. Given the choice, I believe other people feel the same way.

    So if we assume portrait will always win over landscape in tablet devices, and assume 600-800 px is going to be the width of most tablet devices, 768 px is really the way to go.

    Lots of assumptions there, I admit, but I feel this is the right way to go. But again, I encourage everyone to decide for themselves, and develop their own frameworks based on their own assumptions. Less Framework is simply the way I work. :)
