Nice one. I dig it. Only thing I would suggest, is either straightening out the state, or making it more tilted. It's playing tricks with my eyes.

Certainly attractive, but by giving a shadow underneath the line on the unemployment rate, it suggests an area chart. And since the X axis starts at 7% instead of the expected 0% for an area chart, it has a misleading slope to it. The slope alone suggests that the unemployment rate was cut by 68% in less than a year, when it reality it was just under 18%.

it's not inaccurate, or even "wrong" by any objective measure, it's just ... misleading. But I suppose that's politics, isn't it? You could argue that people can read the numbers and discover the truth of the matter, but if you really expected that, why use a chart at all?

Of course, the worst part of all is that an 18% reduction in unemployment in less than a year is pretty damn impressive, so it seems like a shame to artificially inflate it in the chart. :(

@Marty Alchin - good point. the scale is certainly enlarged, as indicated by the numbers of the left hand side. it kind of gives you a "zoomed in" view of the data. i think the design is justified is people care to look at the scale on the left hand side.

but your feedback is certainly well taken - i'll keep it in mind for any future iterations. :)
