Logo redesign for Australian agriculture, agronomy, livestock company. This is the first round of mock-ups.
The photograph is one they plan to use for aspects of marketing, so felt this made a good backdrop for our first attempt at a new logo for them.
Main focus was on creating a standalone initial mark, so finding a strong typeface that was suited to their line of work without being too cool or trendy was paramount.
Ultimately needed to be pretty down-to-earth, but not dull.
Really happy with the type choice which is Eagle Bold with some shape tweaks and using Effra Regular for the ampersand. As usual the ampersand can make quite a solid focal point, but without having it take all the focus, so a much lighter weight was used as well as making it a little smaller as a way to put it in it's place, so to speak.
Blue and yellow are their existing brand colours, but I have darkened them both in these examples.
What I like about creating this simple container is that the yellow flash makes for quite a distinctive feature, as well as the blue/yellow combo reflecting the sky and ground/crop link.
We can then simplify this for a favicon as seen on the attachments, and it still retains the overall brand look even though it's now just the letter B.
If you're up for a little critique, please read on...
Minor quibbble. The balance feels a little bit off. It feels a little heavy on the left, but not heavy enough. Maybe could have been moved a little right (if the intent is for it to feel centered). Or perhaps the rectangular fields should might been extended a little to the right to make the left positioning feel more grounded.
@Bill Dawson Also have a hopeful solution to your Font app thing. Will get back to you on that as I had the same problem, but now stopped the file duplication.
Gosh, this is just fantastic. So bold. The colour choices are amazing - I absolutely LOVE the sky/ground reference. The balance between the B/R/C and the & is just perfect. Absolutely love it, and really liking your work Graham!
I love the yellow line, it remind me a lot of my curent branding!
I really enjoy this logo and especially the favicon, which could maybe done animated, to show all the letters. Just a quick thought, though
Good eye @Bill - As I glanced down the logos I noticed this. It's a little more apparent on the favicon lock up. Overall a really strong first draft @Graham. You may not have to farther than this as long as the client doesn't want to step over you.
@Marco Moreno The actual logo type was finalised a short while ago, so it's the blue/yellow container that is the next update. Hopefully, as you point out, it's not too far off the mark other than a couple of details. :)
@Jordan Flaig There is a lot about the company you wouldn't know about, such as a transition/move into Insurance, Retail, Property, Finance as well as their existing sectors.
So the rebrand needs to cover quite a diverse range of sectors whilst still being true to what BR&C is. :)

@Bill Dawson Yup, you're spot on with that observation. Will amend shortly.
Always open to honest critique, but not the sort left in my Rebase rebound. :)

Hmm... This logo seems very "corporation-ish" and not very "agriculture, agronomy, livestock company-ish"
Still looks awesome though!
