Here’s a bunch of images as a starter kit. If you do something interesting with them and need some more, please get in touch (I don’t have that much spare time, but you never know).
The license: For use in commercial and non-commercial App.net apps, provided you credit me. Not for use for any other purpose.
If you’d like to know how I automate the exporting, make sure you check out the sprite sheets.
I'm not sure why... eight outer spokes renders really well at small sizes, and I wanted the inner hole to not be circular, so it could actually work as a real object. Six sides rendered well at small sizes, too.
I build at 1× first. I think I’ll continue to do that until I have a Retina Cinema Display and Retina capable Photoshop. I try really hard to make sure the 1× document scales perfectly to 2× with no changes or minimal changes (that doesn’t mean using 2px wide lines for the 2× size, just means you have to get a little creative on how you build things sometimes).
This set was put together pretty quickly, but hopefully it all looks ok. There’s a few things I’m not happy about for the 1× size, but I guess I’ll see if anyone uses it before investing more in the set.

I want to encourage some good App.net apps.

There's that charming Bjango settings gear. How'd you land on eight spokes and six inner faces? It looks natural, just asking about process.

Followup question: which comes first for you: @2x or @1x?

The tabbar at the bottom looks a bit like the one from Tweetbot.

Nice idea Marc, hopefully this will encourage some really nice app designs.

Great work, Marc. My only suggestion is to round the app corners.

@Ari Yeah, it could do with some polish. If someone uses it, I’ll gladly spend a little more time finishing it.

Has a tweetbot type of feel. Which I am okay with.
