I'm revising the navigation for my application Thousand Wires (thousandwires.com) and I'm trying this out. The menu icon will always be visible, but when you click/tap it, the rest are displayed. The option on the left takes a lot of vertical space and will likely be an issue people on iPad and smaller screens. So my question is, if I display the icons like they are on the right, can you still synthesize them fast enough and figure out which one you want to press?
